Vegas Here I Come!    October 29, 2007

I’m sitting at my desk right now in my office and I am waiting patiently for 2:30PM to roll around.  I will be departing at 3:30 and will arrive 4 hours later in Vegas at 4:30PM.  The SEMA auto show is happening and since I work for AutoWeek Magazine, corporate is sending me out there to video tape it.  So from 9 to 5 everyday I will be video taping and interviewing people from the industry, checking out sweet cars and models.  Then I will be hitting the Casino’s and getting trashed.  So although it will be work It will be more of a vacation than anything.

I do wish I was going with friends instead of co-workers.  Not that there is anything wrong with them, they just are a lot older than me.  I’ll just pay a hooker to hang out with me all night. Read the rest of this entry »

After searching for a show to watch on one of those streaming video sites, I came across a show that I used to watch with my dad a long time ago, when I was a kid. Mystery Science Theater 3000. I remembered it being somewhat entertaining, either that or I remember my dad laughing at it. Anyways, I pulled up an episode. My girlfriend, Sarah, was protesting while the horribly corny intro played. I assured her that the show was good and to give it a chance.

As soon as I saw the silhouettes of Mike Nelson and his robot buddies, Tom Servo and Crow in the theater a rush of memories came flooding into my mind. All of a sudden I realize that this is an amazing show. After 5 minutes of their hilarious commentary over a horribly done B Christmas Movie from Mexico, I was hooked! Detroit 97.1 Free FM is No More    October 2, 2007

Let me preface this blog post by saying that I am a huge fan and critic of talk radio and that the talk radio in Detroit was mediocre at best. I would listen to it not because it was good by any means but rather because I wanted to see what they did wrong and what they did right so I wouldn’t make the same mistakes on my show. It was kind of a learning tool.

Talk radio in the motor city is DEAD. I was driving home from work yesterday and I put on 97.1 Free FM, which is the talk radio station here in Detroit, like I do everyday. I was expecting to either hear the voices of Deminski & Doyle (D&D) or a long winded commercial. Instead I heard one of the worlds most boring creations… Sports Talk. UGH. Once I realized that it was not a commercial I quickly pulled out my iPod and put on a podcast. Read the rest of this entry »
