Video Editing Blues    December 18, 2007

For the past week or so I have been trying to replicate a film look with my Panasonic DVX100b. The whole reason I got the DVX was to do this and it has the ability to do it, A lot of indie film makers use this exact camera, I just don’t know what the fuck I’m doing yet.

I have learned a lot so far and I am getting closer, but still not perfect. Believe it or not I have learned A LOT from a 15 year old kid from Tennessee. I found him on the DVXuser.com forum and I am in awe of his work. Take a look for yourself: http://www.mattmatheson.com/rage/film.php?…

That looks like FILM and he is using the same camera as me.

One thing I have learned is that most of that look comes from the post-production. I am trying to get a program called Magic Bullet Looks for Vegas Video and I cannot for the life of me find it. It is brand new software that is supposed to come out this month and is already available for Premiere pro. I’d get it for Premiere but… I hate that program. Vegas Video is so much better. But I think that is half the battle. This magic bullet program adjusts color and level settings and you can apply these different looks to your video.

One of these days I’ll get it.
